West Indie Parade is Labor Day Tradition here in Crown Heights Brooklyn.  Initially started in Harlem, the parade was moved to Brooklyn in 1969,. Running down Eastern Parkway to the Brooklyn Museum& Library; the parade celebrates Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, Barbados, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Grenada & rest of Caribbean culture. This trip started off in Santo Domingo, with our uncle Reuben. An impromptu trip that we accompanied him on as was going out to Bavaro to visit his friend Roberto. We ended up in a back neighborhood of the resort town. Away from the all-inclusive resorts, Roberto led us to a 2-story makeshift dome that housed the local cockfights. After co-founding the Watts Towers Arts Center in Los Angeles. Noah Purifoy moved to Joshua Tree in the late 1980's.  From 1989 till his death in 2004, he worked on & established what is now known as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Sculpture Museum
